Matthew Barket, Esq. is a shareholder and founding member of Barket & Forns, PLLC.
Matthew began his career representing some of the nation's largest insurance carriers throughout Florida, gaining extensive insight into the way insurers evaluate, defend, and litigate claims. In 2015, he transitioned to representing policyholders, bringing that industry experience to the other side of insurance disputes.
An accomplished trial attorney, Matthew has represented policyholders in significant coverage disputes throughout Florida. His experience includes recovering above policy limits against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, obtaining an arbitration award in favor of a policyholder before the Division of Administrative Hearings, and successfully challenging the application of water-damage limitations in insurance disputes.
His approach to litigation is deliberate and case-specific. Rather than relying on standardized tactics, Matthew develops strategies around the particular facts, risks, and objectives of each matter. Beyond insurance law, he maintains a broad litigation practice that includes data privacy disputes, construction litigation, wire fraud, warranty claims, negligence actions, and commercial litigation.
Matthew places a strong emphasis on client communication. He believes clients should understand the status of their matters and makes accessibility and responsiveness central to his approach to representation.
A Miami native and former professional baseball player, Matthew brings the same competitive focus to his legal practice that he once brought to the field.
